What is the connection between DHT and hair loss?

DHT is actually a hair-destroying factor, synthesized by male hormones secreted by the body and 5-alpha reductase, a gene that causes hair loss. DHT attacks hair follicles, causing them to shrink. The hair turns from thick to thin, from thin to short, from short to frizzy, and in severe cases, there is even no hair at all.
